CCB's Y2K Status and InformationThe Y2K ProblemCCB Project Statement Review of Year 2000 Testing Product Liability and the Year 2000 Product Y2K Testing Resources Final Year 2000 Compliance ReportAs of December 1999, all software and hardware critical and non-critical to the day to day operations of Consistent Computer Bargains have been tested and are Year 2000 compliant. Included in this compliance: all online and off-line order handling software, LAN/WAN and Internet hardware and software, workstation hardware and software, and all supporting embedded technology. Final testing was done in "live" mode under normal operation conditions in a controlled environment utilizing the same hardware and software that is used in normal day-to-day operations. For software and / or hardware that could not be tested in this fashion approved Y2K statements of compliance were acquired or approved testing programs were used to minimize downtime of hardware / software that had 24/7 up-time requirements. On December 31, 1999, the IS Department were on staff and ready to handle any unforeseen or uncontrollable Y2K related problems. There were no Y2K related problems. As a final note we hope everyone had a happy and safe New Year, and hope for a great year in 2000, the final year of this millennium.
The Y2K ProblemThe "Year 2000 Problem" arose because many existing computer programs use only the last two digits to refer to a year. Therefore, these computer programs do not properly recognize a year that begins with "20" instead of the familiar "19." If not corrected, many computer applications could fail or create erroneous results. The problems created by using abbreviated dates appear in hardware (such as microchips), operating systems and other software programs. Consistent Computer Bargains' Year 2000 Project StatementConsistent Computer Bargains' Year 2000 ("Y2K") compliance project is intended to determine the readiness of Consistent Computer Bargains' business for the Year 2000. Consistent Computer Bargains defines Y2K "compliance" to mean that the computer code will process all defined future dates properly and give accurate results. The following is hereby designated as Year 2000 Readiness Statement pursuant to the Year 2000 Information and Disclosure Act. Year 2000 Compliance Testing In ReviewIn November 1997, Consistent Computer Bargains' IS Department began developing an overall plan to address Y2K readiness and the repair, modification or replacement of business components which the analysis determines are not Y2K compliant ("remediation"). The initial process for testing Consistent Computer Bargains' internal IT DCS systems hardware has been completed. The design and implementation of DCS system and associated software (Consistent Computer Bargains' system performing the primary business functions of sales order entry, billing, purchasing, distribution and inventory control) considered the Y2K problem and is currently deemed compliant. All identified IT DCS system components have been deemed to be Y2K compliant as of March 1, 1999. Desktop hardware testing and remediation was completed in February 1999. Software testing and remediation is anticipated to be completed in September 1999. Current testing shows that there will be no interruption of our business and that the system wide test will not bring up any additional Y2K related problems.
